• Chapbook Workshop

If you’re in Manchester, NH next Tuesday (December 9), I’m leading a workshop on the history, variety, and making of chapbooks at The Moka Pot on behalf of Slam Free or Die as part of their monthly workshop series. We hope to start around 6:30, and tips are appreciated as I’ll be providing some sewing… Continue reading

  • Closing out November with something small

Password: the journal of very short poetry just accepted two (do I even need to say the next word?) short poems of mine today, including one that’s kind of a three-column contrapuntal variation. They’ll appear in issue 3.1, hopefully February 2026. Continue reading

  • Fingers crossed

The dreamscapes manuscript (which I suppose I should just start referring to by its title – these are the waterfalls in my head) has been longlisted for YesYes Books‘s 2025 open reading period. Those of us on it will find out in late December (most likely) which books from that list are getting published. Continue reading

  • Missed updates

A while back, brand-new journal Opol published three of my poems. Earlier this month, the editor was kind enough to nominate one of them for a Pushcart. And I just got word that that poem will appear in the quarterly, downloadable, purchasable edition in mid-December. Many thanks to Venessa! Continue reading

  • Reading: Slam Free or Die

It’s a bit last-minute to be posting this here, but the real reach (given my lack of social media) comes from Slam Free or Die anyway… I’m the featured poet there this coming Thursday, November 20. I’ll be leading a workshop titled “Therapy vs Catharsis” starting at 6:45pm and running roughly 45 minutes. The open… Continue reading

  • Dreams as (un)missed messages

Yeaaaars ago, I sent a poem to voicemail poems that didn’t get in. I’ve continued to enjoy the work they do over there and recently took a second shot, this time with one of the dreamscapes. It just got accepted earlier tonight, so expect a second post this month when the issue goes live. Continue reading

  • Dreaming in the Prairie

Two more dreamscapes just got picked up, this time by the venerable Prairie Schooner. The manuscript of which they’re part is sitting at 64 pages (I’ve pared it down over the past year from an original “production” of about 120 dreamscapes), and this very nice publication-to-be means that over a third of the poems are… Continue reading

  • Slam Free or Die at 20

Last night was the 20th anniversary of Slam Free or Die in Manchester, NH. I was involved in the scene back in 2009-2010 as both just a regular participant and a member of the 2010 team that went to the National Poetry Slam that year. I was invited to be one of the guests last… Continue reading

  • Almost in my own backyard

The poetry manuscript I wrote (mostly) last year was just named a finalist for the 2025 May Sarton New Hampshire Poetry Prize. Alas, it didn’t win, but it’s nice to come close. Continue reading

  • A love(ly) way to kick off September

A poem of mine just got accepted for the inaugural issue (Fall 2025) of PHIL LIT Journal. Going back and forth with the editors now on the proof copy. Continue reading
