diluvium
About diluvium
diluvium is the creative half of my dissertation, a 64-page poetic sequence concerning Noah and his wife. In the center of each page is an 8-line (usually-)rhyming poem representing the conscious utterances of the characters. Surrounding them is a free- and concrete-verse “ocean” of their subconsciouses, or perhaps a Collective Unconscious. Neither side takes precedence over the other – the story is carried by the central poems, and the emotional tenor is carried by the exterior pieces. It’s up to the reader to negotiate among the sections, though I’ve tried to make it as easy as possible to follow the story. I’m currently sending this out to first-book contests, but if you’re a publisher with an interest in work that’s experimental and traditional all at the same time, feel free to contact me.

I have been reading this the last few nights. I was wondering if the background is mostly original work or if you borrowed from others. I really wanted to be able to read the story about the man with the bag, boy with the stick, and girl with the hoop shaped like a labyrinth, but as the words all overlap the story gets harder to follow. Is there a complete story for that or were the pieces that appear in Diluvium all that exist?
The man with the bag, the boy with the stick, and the girl with the hoop shaped like a labyrinth are all my creations. If you really want to read all the poems featuring them, none of which have been published separately, I can pull out those sections and email them to you. They’re less a story than some sort of mythology.
